The Apple Basket Cafe

If you're ever cruising through Macon, Missouri, and your stomach starts growling, The Apple Basket Cafe is that cozy spot you’ll want to check out. Tucked away at 215 N Rollins St, this down-to-earth diner feels like a warm hug from the Midwest. The atmosphere? Totally casual. It’s the kind of place where the vibe is friendly, the noise level is just right, and you can roll in with the kids or the whole crew and feel right at home.

Now, let’s talk food—because that's where this place really shines. Locals swear by the Chicken Livers and the Hot Beef Plate, both served up just the way grandma used to make. If comfort food had a capital C, you'd find it here. And let’s not forget the Meatloaf—moist, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. It’s the kind of dish that turns first-timers into regulars.

But the real hidden gem? That would be the Mounds Pie. Rich, creamy, and loaded with coconut-chocolate goodness, it's the kind of dessert that earns whispers of "just one more bite" long after you're full. And if you're into hearty sandwiches, the Breaded Tenderloin is an absolute must-try—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with all the fixings.

Whether you're passing through town or you’re lucky enough to call Macon home, The Apple Basket Cafe delivers that perfect blend of homemade flavor and small-town charm. It’s not fancy, and that’s exactly the point. Just good food, friendly faces, and a menu that feels like it was built for sharing stories over full plates.

Great local diner/cafe. I am a local regular. The cob salad is one of my favorites. Hot beef plate or tenderloin is a must try. Service is always good.
